Drumroll please.... dum de dum de dummmm... Ha ha. That's enough. I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and happy new year and the first few weeks of January has treated you all well. Who was complaining about the lack of snow and cold? There you have it. In full wind chill force. It's good though. Bundle up and then it's a good time.
So I've started my new job. It's great. I'm really tired out from the first week and feel like I could use a few more days off but I'm excited to go back nonetheless. The staff is really great, I have taught with a few of them before, and I really like my "mentor" teacher. All is good. We're teaching programs like survival skills, eco-hikes, orienteering, wood crafts, campfires, instincts, team building.. the list goes on. It's great. I forgot how much I loved doing this, working with kids, being outside all day. You feel really alive.
I'm not really ending my blogging drought with anything exciting. I'll try and write some funny things that happens with the kids. They're always good for a laugh. I tried to teach dreamcatchers to 25 grade 5 kids on Wednesday. It was such a disaster. Hilarious. Some of them were chucking them around, a girl was crying because she couldn't get it to work, half the other kids were running around the room, and the kid beside me really smelled. And the parent that was with them was sitting there minding his own business. Never has a program gone so horribly wrong.
Hmm. Was noch? I'm going to play with my digital camera this week and post some pictures for you all. Yeah. Life is good now. Better. I'm enjoying it.
